Meet your Highly Sensitive Hypnotherapist...

Hi, I'm Alex!
That question quietly followed me for years.
This work is personal to me, because I’ve lived it. I’d find myself overwhelmed in busy spaces, drained after socialising, or spiralling from a single offhand comment. For the longest time, I thought I just needed to toughen up, to be more like everyone else. I used to think I was just "too sensitive" to people’s energy, to the world around me. I'm a qualified Dispensing Optician, and for 9 years I worked in a public-facing Healthcare setting. While I loved helping people, I often came home emotionally and physically drained. It felt like I was constantly navigating a world that wasn’t built for the way I experienced life.
Then I read Dr, Elaine Aron's book; The Highly Sensitive Person and discovered I am a HSP.
And suddenly, everything made sense.
Understanding my sensitivity didn’t just help me heal, it helped me thrive.
It’s what led me to train as a Hypnotherapist, so I could help others like you reclaim your nervous system, reconnect with your intuition, and finally stop seeing your sensitivity as something to “fix.”
I made the leap to self-employment last year, not just as a career change, but as an act of self-respect. I wanted to build a life and a business that honoured my sensitivity, not one that constantly pushed me to override it.
Today, I work with those living with the effects of Trauma, deep feelers, over-thinkers, and those who are tired of living in survival mode. Whether you’re navigating PTSD/C-PTSD, burnout, relationship challenges, negative habits, destructive behaviours, or just want to feel safe in your own skin; you’re in the right place.
Why does everything affect me so deeply?

Why am I doing this work?
Because I know what it’s like to carry things in your body that no one else can see. To feel everything and not know what to do with it.
Because I believe that healing is possible when we feel safe, seen, and supported. Not just in our minds, but in our bodies and nervous systems too.
Because in a world that often overwhelms sensitive people, I want to help create one that supports them.
Like many HSPs, I spent years distracting myself from my feelings; scrolling, staying busy, emotionally checking out - just to avoid the heaviness I was carrying. And in a world that feels increasingly loud, disconnected, and chaotic, I often found myself absorbing the pain in the news and the collective atmosphere. It left me feeling powerless at times. But instead of shutting down, I realised I could offer something healing. Something gentle, grounded, and nourishing to counter the noise.
My growing interest in the way trauma affects the body has inspired me to specialise in trauma-informed hypnotherapy, where the focus is on supporting nervous system regulation and promoting a greater sense of safety and calm.
Long-term, my partner Tom (Tom Parish Coaching) and I dream of creating retreats. Spaces where people can unplug, reconnect, and feel held in every sense of the word. Whether it’s in the English countryside or under Tuscan sun, we want to offer something that nourishes the soul, mind, body, and spirit. Watch this space!

Qualifications and Certifications

My work is grounded in both formal training and lived experience, with a strong focus on safety, ethics, and nervous system awareness. I’ve trained with respected institutions and mentors who share my belief that deep change happens when we work gently and at the pace the body can handle.
I’m a qualified Hypnotherapist (Dip. Hyp), awarded a Professional Hypnotherapy Diploma through the Jacquin Hypnosis Academy; an internationally recognised school known for its evidence-based and experiential approach to hypnosis. This training included over 50 hours of live mentoring, practical assessments, and hours of practice focused on subconscious change, communication skills, and client safety.
To deepen my understanding of trauma and nervous system work, I trained with Sarah Yuen, founder of CATCH (Crisis and Trauma Clinical Hypnotherapy), completing the BEAT Retreat Training course. This is a professional development programme designed to support individuals experiencing trauma and PTSD/C-PTSD related symptoms. The protocol I use focuses on trauma-informed principles, parts work, and practical approaches that help clients feel more integrated, grounded, and safer within themselves.
I also completed Trauma-Informed Coaching Certification with The Centre for Healing, a programme grounded in the neurobiology of trauma, emotional processing, and nervous system regulation. This training explored how trauma shapes identity, behaviour, protection mechanisms, and subconscious patterns, as well as how to support clients in building awareness, self-compassion, and internal safety.
The course covered key trauma responses (freeze, shutdown, fawn, fight/flight), somatic awareness, parts work principles, and gentle coaching frameworks that avoid retraumatisation. It helped me further understand how to recognise dysregulation, how to pace sessions safely, and how to support clients in developing capacity, resilience, and a deeper connection with their inner world.
This training complements my hypnotherapy work by giving me additional tools to hold space with attunement and sensitivity, especially for clients who have experienced chronic overwhelm, emotional neglect, or long-standing trauma patterns.
In addition, I’m a Level 2 Reiki Practitioner, trained with the Somerset School of Hypnotherapy. Although I don’t currently offer Reiki within my online sessions, this training is an important part of my holistic background. I use Reiki personally to support my own regulation, grounding, and nervous system balance, which in turn helps me show up as a calm, steady co-regulator for my clients. Learning about energy work has deepened my understanding of how trauma and emotional experiences can be held in the body. It has strengthened my belief that meaningful change happens when we work with the mind, body, and subconscious together. This holistic lens shapes the way I hold space with compassion, attunement, and presence, and I plan to integrate Reiki more fully into my future in-person practice.

My understanding of trauma, the nervous system, and subconscious change is something I continue to develop over time. I engage in ongoing self-directed CPD, peer reflection, and advanced training to ensure my work is aligned with current research, emerging frameworks, and best practices in the trauma and healing fields.
The work we do together is deeply supportive, but it sits alongside, not instead of, medical or psychological care. I offer complementary, mind–body approaches and do not diagnose or treat medical conditions. Where needed, I encourage clients to seek support from qualified healthcare professionals alongside our sessions.
If this resonates, you're warmly invited to work with me.
Through Hypnotherapy, let this be the beginning of the journey of coming home to yourself.
